Compare REC Solar Panels, Prices & Reviews

REC Solar

REC were founded in Norway in 1996 and have since manufactured over 34 million solar panels to power the lives of over 17 million people with renewable solar energy.

The Renewable Energy Energy Corporation (REC) were the first solar manufacturer to introduce half-cut cell technology, which helps to increase energy generation and their modules have the lowest claims rate of any solar panel manufacturer, meaning that you'll be investing in a reliable solar panel.

Solar Panels for Homes

All REC solar cells are half cells, which means that they've been cut in half to double the number of cells per panels and increase generation.

REC ALPHA

The REC Alpha series of solar panels are powerful units, with power outputs of 360 – 380 watts available. They're made from heterojunction, which is a combination of crystalline silicon and thin film which allows the panels to achieve higher levels of generation.

As well as reducing the carbon footprint of your home by powering it with renewable solar energy, the production needs much less energy than standard solar panels, further reducing the carbon footprint.

REC TwinPeak 2

Available in a silver or black frame, the TwinPeak 2 series are the only REC solar panels that are made from polycrystalline (or multicrystalline) rather than monocrystalline.

They boast 'twin' design which means that they're still able to generate electricity even when partially shaded. Solar panels work best in direct sunlight and installers will position them to limit the amount of shading they're in during the day. Many standard solar panels won't generate energy when in shade but electricity generation continues with REC TwinPeak 2 solar panels.

Half-cut Cell Technology

REC Solar introduced half-cut cell technology to the market and many solar manufacturers have followed in their footsteps.

Half-cut cells are traditional silicon solar cells that have been cut in half which, in the case of REC solar panels, means that they have 120 cells rather than 60. There are many benefits to half-cut cells which can help to increase performance and help to extend the lifetime of the solar modules.

When solar cells convert solar energy into electricity, some of the power can be lost as it's transported, known as resistive losses. When the number of cells are halved, each cell is generating less energy, lowering the current which helps to decrease the resistive losses.

Why Choose REC Solar Panels?

Choosing to have REC solar panels installed comes with many benefits:

  • Testing is up to 3 times as stringent as industry standards
  • Designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions
  • Only 400 of every 4 million panels have been found to be faulty
  • REC solar panels are durable and recyclable
  • Half-cut cell technology
  • Increased performance in shaded conditions over other solar panels (REC TwinPeak 2)

How Much do REC Solar Panels Cost?

REC provide the price of their solar panels on application (POA) which means having to contact the manufacturer. However, based on retailer prices, REC solar panels are likely to cost between £95 and £265 per module, depending on the series and power output.

On top of the price of the individual solar panels, you will need to budget for the installation too. Solar panel installation prices can vary greatly from installer to installer which is why we highly recommend comparing multiple quotes.

To make finding quotes easier, take a few moments to complete our simple online form and you'll get free quotes from up to 4 local solar panels installers. There's no-obligation to accept any of these quotes and once you have them you can be confident that you're getting the most competitive price from an installer you can trust.
