Homeowners Can Earn £1,000 Annually With Renewable Energy

A renewable energy firm has calculated that homeowners can earn up to £1,000 every year over the course of 25 years if they switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

That’s the case, according to Riomay Renewable Energies, one of the UK's leading domestic and commercial renewable solution providers who design, supply and install renewable energy systems.

Fossil fuels took over 500 million years to create and yet within a few hundreds of years they will be used up. As energy companies continue to increase their prices and fuel bills get higher and higher, many consumers are already starting to look into alternative ways to save money.

Aside from helping the planet, switching to renewables could benefit finances and generate a 4% to 10% tax-free return on an initial investment of between £6,000 and £15,000.

The incentive to swap to green energy is certainly there. The Government introduced the feed-in-tariff (Fit) scheme in April 2010, and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme, which is due to be implemented in October 2012, will bring even more financial reward to those who have turned to renewable energy to heat their homes.

“You don’t need to be living in a house featured on Grand Designs to consider renewable energy. Even the roof of an average terrace house can generate significant energy to help run a household and save money,” said Alan Aldridge, the managing director of Riomay Renewable Energies.
