TMV to the hot water feed from the tank????

I am embarking upon installing a solar system ( yes, by myself) and to prevent too much hot water going to taps I heard and thought myself that it would surely be best practive to install a TMV on the hot water feed from the tank? Also by installing such a TMV does this elimiate the need to install thermostatic showers as manual mixer valves make more economic sense in this case?

Advice, Common sense and tips from knowledgeable friends would be very welcome!

    Thanks in advance

You could install a TMV to the outlet of the cylinder. They are primarily used to contro the outlet temperature from getting too hot. If you used one you could potentially increase the store max temp subject to building regs and manufacturer guidelines. You would still keep temperature control at outlet as end user will have different requirements and i'd suggest automatic control is better as it will manage changing water pressure more effectively.

I would always install a TMV if possible, make sure it is rated to take solar temperatures. Also if you then set your solar to heat to 70-80C you should add some form of scale protection to the cylinder as the higher temps in summer will make scale form more easily.
You will also prolong the life of your heat transfer fluid as well by letting more heat into the cylinder and reducing stagnation of your collectors.
