    Feed-in Tariff Rate Guarantee

Newbie here so please bear with me. Can someone please confirm if the feed in tariff is guaranteed for 25 years at the rate at which i have my system installed at (21p) or whether it will drop with any future cuts in the tariff. The company quoting for our system is claiming that our payments will actually rise which I'm very sceptical about with all the cuts!!!!

Yes the Feed in Tariff rate you sign up on (currently 21p per unit generated) is guarenteed and underwritten by DECC (Department of Energy and Climate Change). This is then index linked to the RPI and goes up every April in line with the previous 12 months RPI increase. I know it my sound too good to be true, but it isnt! This is why Solar PV remainds a very popular and viable investement oppurtunity.

It will change, just upwards in line with RPI, so the original 41.3p rate went up to 43.3p last April, and 45p this April. Next year the same will happen withe the 21p rates.

Though this is one of the aspects they recently consulted on, and could change from July for systems installed after that point if DECC decide to ignore everyone's responses to the consultation again.

It is reported that there is no feed-in tariff cuts on February. Rates will be the same up until the May 1st of next year. This is generally good news to consumers.

Yes, it will cease after 20 years (the period has been reduced since this discussion started). However, if you have a professional installation using good quality components, there is no reason why your panels will not continue to produce electricity for 30 years plus.
