Birmingham Gets Ready to Host UK’s Premier Solar Conference

By Katie Anderson on September 27, 2011

Last year’s conference sold out, and event organisers are hoping Solar Power UK 2011 will be able to expand on previous success.

Next month some of the brightest names in the solar industry are set to converge on the UK’s second largest city, as Birmingham hosts the UK’s premier solar event.

Running from October 26-28th at the ICC Exhibition Centre, Solar Power UK 2011 is a three-day event designed to focus on solar PV and solar thermal. With training sessions, educational seminars and conferences, the exhibition will also see around 120 exhibitors showcasing their products and services.

The 2010 conference in London attracted more than 460 delegates, and Solar Power UK 2011 is once more set to become a platform for solar specialists when it comes to discussing ways of driving the UK’s solar industry forward.

Once again the highlight of the conference will be the guest speakers, and this year over forty key industry figures will be on hand to deliver speeches, including:

  • Virginia Graham, chief executive of REAL Assurance Scheme
  • Howard Johns, chairman of the Solar Trade Association
  • Jeremy Leggett, founder of Solarcentury
  • Greg Barker MP, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change
  • Alistar McGowan, comedian and environmental campaigner

Did you know?

Earn Money via the Feed-In TarrifThe Government's Feed-In Tariff was launched on April 1st 2010 to encourage homeowners to generate their own electricity - it is split into two methods of revenue.

The Generation Tariff earns you a fixed income for every kilowatt hour of electricity you generate. And, The Export Tariff earns you income for every kilowatt hour you generate and sell back to the grid.

An average 3/4 bedroom house fitted with 2.5kw Solar PV panels and normal electricity usage would earn over £850 p/a tax free!

Add this to an approximate £145 reduction in your electricity usage and you could benefit by over £1,000 per year.
